Community Programs Engagement of communities with dance is a key element of Nimbus; these programs bring dance into a
dynamic relationship with audiences and participants.

JC SummerMoves
This summer dance education brings high school students from across Jersey City to the dance
studios of Henry Snyder High School for a two-week program of intensive dance education as well
as development of skills such as leadership and confidence. Featuring performances at local senior centers, this program culminates in a final show for friends, family, and members of the community.

JC Grooves
A unique program of dance training, performance, first-hand exposure to working with professional
dancers and musicians, and curriculum-integrated arts education for more than 2,000 Jersey City
Public School students. JC Grooves incorporates two major components: a 3-month intensive program
of dance training, creativity, small group dynamics, collaboration, and performance for a select
group of students from Frank R. Conwell Middle School #4, and a culminating series of educational
performances attended by more than 2,000 middle school students from throughout the school district.

Art Reaching Communities (ARC)
This new dance assembly program engages middle school students as mover, designers, and thinkers
as they experience they physical, creative, and conceptual aspects of modern dance. Including
performance of pieces from Nimbus' repertory, a short and witty history of modern dance, as well
as student involvement in choreography, performance, and discussion, ARC brings Nimbus' unique
commitment to dance education to students across New Jersey.

Dancin' at La Casa
This after-school dance education program for elementary and middle school-age students at Newark's
La Casa de Don Pedro Community Center uses dance as a mean for self-expression and growth. The
program culminates in a December performance at The Newark Museum.
