Shay Bland is from Englewood, NJ and began her dance training at Progressive Dance Studio. She then attended The Ailey School as a Scholarship Student with the Junior Division. After graduating from the Professional Performing High School Shay attended Rutgers University where she was awarded the James Dickson Carr Scholarship. She later returned to the Ailey School as a Scholarship Student in the Professional Division, after which she was invited to join Ailey II;  Ms. Bland then joined Elisa Monte Dance.  She has studied with choreographers such as Troy Powell, Robert Battle, Dwight Rhoden, Desmond Richardson, Francesca Harper, Christian Von Howard, Earl Mosley, Camile A. Brown, Ray Mercer, Ronald K. Brown. and Danielle Agami. Ms. Bland is in her first season with Nimbus Dance Works



COMPANY DANCER /Pre-Professional Program Director

Tracy Dunbar graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, from Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance Performance. While at MSU, he was the recipient of the Jeanne Wade Heningburg and the Mary Ann Peins scholarships for the acknowledgment of excellence in dance on top of performing works by choreographers Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Donald McKayle, Bill T. Jones, and Larry Keigwin, among others. He has even had the opportunity to present his own work at the American College Dance Festival and abroad. Professionally, Mr. Dunbar has worked with the Von Howard Project, Zullo/RawMovement, Freespace Dance, 10HL Projects and Jessica Gaynor Dance. Mr. Dunbar joined Nimbus Dance Works in the Fall of 2015 and is in his 2nd season. 




Rony Lenis, originally from Pereira, Colombia, began his traning at the Miami Conservatory of Ballet. After graduating secondary school, Mr. Lenis was awarded a full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. Mr. Lenis furthered his training in the Paris Opera Ballet syllabus at the French Academie of Ballet, guided by the artistic direction of François Perron.

Mr. Lenis was a member of the Colorado Ballet and City Ballet of San Diego. He is excited to join Nimbus Dance Works as a new company dancer. 




Robert Lewis was born in Grand Rapids, MI, and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Robert graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts where his interest and passion for concert dance really grew. His studies took him to Purchase, NY where he graduated with a BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. While at Purchase, Robert had the pleasure of training abroad for a semester at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. Mr. Lewis has performed works by Nelly Van Bommel, Cho Yi Wong, Stephen Petronio, Sarah Mettin, Kevin Wynn, Bill T. Jones, and is a founding member of Big Evil Collective. Mr. Lewis has been an active company dancer of Nimbus Dance Works for 4 seasons



COMPANY DANCER /Company Manager

Justin Keith Perez was born in New York and raised in Orlando, FL where he started his dancing career at Valencia Community College and earned his BFA from New World School of the Arts Miami, FL. graduating Summa Cum Laude and Salutatorian. He was a member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle corp., The Knights Independent World and Braddock Independent World Guard. Mr. Perez is the Creative Director of Change Through Dance, Inc. (CTD) and has danced at Walt Disney World Entertainment, Nao Dance Collective, Surfscape Contemporary Dance Theatre, VarieTEASE and Ballet Inc. Mr. Perez serves as the Company Manager for Nimbus Dance Works and joined the company in 2013. Mr. Perez is entering his 4th season with Nimbus Dance Works. 



JunioR Youth Ensemble Director

Chloe Slade started dancing at the age of seven at local dance studios in South Carolina before auditioning and being selected to train at the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities. She attended top summer dance intensives including North Carolina Dance Theatre and American Ballet Theatre and competed in the Youth American Grande Prix competition in 2003-2005, ranking well into the regional top twelve each year. She went on to continue academics and dance education at SUNY Purchase College earning a BFA in dance performance and performed featured roles in works by Lauri Stallings, Helen Pickett, Kenneth MacMillan, and George Balanchine. After graduating, Ms. Slade joined and guested with many ballet and modern companies throughout the country including Connecticut Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theatre, Island Moving Company,  Battery Dance Company, Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, Oakland Ballet, New York Theatre Ballet, Miami Contemporary Dance Company, and Ballet Inc. In 2015, she was selected to perform in the contemporary portion of the International Ballet Festival of Miami representing New York and Ballet Inc. Ms. Slade is joining  Nimbus Dance Works as a company dancer. 



company DANCER /Nimbus 2 Coordinator & Outreach Liaison

Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, Hannah Weeks received training at City Ballet of Iowa, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and Alonzo King Lines Ballet Training Program where she performed works by Maurya Kerr, Iratxe Ansa, Uri Sands, Susan McCullough and Ethan Stiefel among others. Ms. Weeks has also performed with New Territory Dance Company, Trainor Dance, B.U.M.P., Scott Willits Dance and in various projects for stage and screen by Alvon Reed and Eloy Barragan. Ms. Weeks severs as the Nimbus 2 coordinator and outreach liaison for Nimbus Dance Works. She joined Nimbus Dance Works in 2015 and is in her 2nd season.




Samantha Barriento is a graduate of the Ailey/ Fordham BFA program and recently danced internationally with Ailey II where she was able to perform works choreographed by Adam Barruch, Troy Powell, Jennifer Archibald, Alvin Ailey, Dwight Rhoden, Manuel Vignoulle, Jean Emile, Ray Mercer, and other renowned choreographers.  As a student at the Ailey school, she was a recipient of the Denise Jefferson Scholarship, awarded annually to one strong, emerging female dancer.   She has also attended summer intensives across the United States, including Jacob’s Pillow’s Contemporary Dance Program, where she received the Lorna Strassler award for 2013.   She is excited to be joining Nimbus Dance Works this season.




Maurice Dowell is an Ivy graduated from Duke University with a major in Literature (Critical Theory), a minor in Dance, and a certificate in Film in May of 2016. Upon graduation he attended the American Dance Festival on scholarship where he had the opportunity to work with New York based Israeli choreographers Lee Sher and Saar Harari (LeeSaar The Company) on a commissioned work. Mr. Dowell has attended intensives at Virginia School of the Arts, The Ailey School, Point Park University, Summer Stages at Concord Academy, Complexions Contemporary Ballet and the Nederlands Dans Theater in 2015.  He has performed in works by Seán Curran, Lightfoot/León, and Gerald Arpino in addition to producing original film and choreography while studying at Duke. Mr. Dowell is so grateful to be joining Nimbus as an Apprentice this season




Maeve McEwen is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she began dancing at age three. McEwen graduated with honors in April 2016 from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Movement Science.  McEwen has also studied at the Merce Cunningham NYC “Inventions” Workshop, Paul Taylor Dance Intensive, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Walnut Hill, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Chautauqua Dance, and has performed works by George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, Peter Sparling, Wanjiru Kamuyu, Alexandra Beller, and Richard Alston.  In June 2015, McEwen was invited by Richard Alston to perform the duet from “Brisk Singing” with the Richard Alston Dance Company in London, England for the company’s 20th Anniversary At Home Series.  McEwen is so grateful to be joining Nimbus Dance Works as an apprentice for the 2016-2017 season!
