Nimbus Dance returns to New Jersey Performing Arts Center on November 14, 2019 at 7 pm, bringing bold modern dance with jazzy roots and a much-anticipated world premiere, Falling Sky. Choreographed by Artistic Director, Samuel Pott, Falling Sky includes new music commissioned by composer Qasim Naqvi,. This new work features musicians from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in a new partnership. Falling Sky adds onto Pott’s 2015 work, Patch of Turf , in which an all female quartet manipulates a 12’ x 8’ piece of artificial grass. Falling Sky features two new sections providing counterpoint and new perspective.

Nimbus also brings The After Party, a new piece by Dawn Marie Bazemore (Philadelphia-based performer, choreographer, and dance educator, formerly with Philadanco). Vibrant, quick, and spirited, The After Party pays honor to jazz legends Nina Simone and Nancy Wilson. Pott’s The Glare From These Horizons will also be performed examines the meeting point of voice, sound, movement, and poetry, incorporating recordings of jazz artists Russell Malone and Skapel and piano compositions by Kim D. Sherman.
